Our Story

Bike Shop, Trail Steward, Shuttles to Mt. Hough, and General Good Times.

Yuba Expeditions is located in Quincy, California, and provides a professional, safe, and reliable shuttle service to Mt. Hough’s finest high-mountain trails, including the Mt. Hough Trail, Berry Creek, and Indian Falls Ridge.

Ride The Lost Sierra

Since 1991, when it was initially known as the Coyote Adventure Company, today Yuba Expeditions is a bike shop and shuttle service that sends every dollar of profit back to the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS). More than 10,000 adventure seekers walk through Yuba's door every year, and each person who spends their money with Yuba helps fund all the fantastic trails built in the Lost Sierra while employing nearly a dozen Sierra and Plumas County residents. The money you spend with Yuba and other local businesses helps our community transform from a logging and mining economy to a sustainable and vibrant recreation-based economy.

Race Events

Another critical means of fundraising for trail projects is participating in our three world-class events: the Downieville Classic, the Lost and Found Gravel Festival in Portola and the new Mountains to Meadows Endurofest, featuring Grinduro.

Each event showcases a unique region of the Lost Sierra, and both towns benefit economically through event participation. These events are far more than just a bike race; they are family-friendly weekend experiences with friends away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Most importantly, a portion of your registration goes to maintaining existing trails while helping fund new trails like Mills Peak Trail in Graeagle and Mount Hough Trails in Quincy.

Lend a Hand

The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS) exists for a single purpose: to build and maintain world-class multi-use trails. This mission is carried out through a local full-time trail crew, funded with federal, state, and local grants that require matched funding from SBTS. But without our dedicated family of volunteers who log more than 5,000 hours of trail work per year, the SBTS couldn't create all the trail magic you ride today. New trails like Mount Hough deliver a dozen miles and 3,800 vertical feet of world-class single track. Trails like Mount Hough aren't being built in America anymore. Still, the SBTS is making it happen in the Lost Sierra by fostering relationships and assembling a family of like-minded folk. So, if you believe in what the SBTS is doing, ask about volunteering at our Trail Daze and become a supporting member of the SBTS. Without our volunteers and core members, there would be no grants, no SBTS, and no trail magic in the Lost Sierra.

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship is a non-profit organization that builds and maintains multi-use trails in the Sierra Buttes, Tahoe, Plumas, and Lassen National Forests.

Our mission is building sustainable recreation-based communities through stewardship, job creation, and world-class events and providing quality outdoor experiences through trail construction and maintenance in the Lost Sierra.

It is our goal to maintain, restore, and enhance trails in the Tahoe, Plumas, and Lassen National Forests in an environmentally sensitive and ecologically responsible fashion. We exist to bring a connection between the land and the people who enjoy it by teaching stewardship, restoring historic trail routes, and creating new paths through the Lost Sierra.

This region offers unique natural beauty, remote accessibility, and diverse multi-use recreational opportunities. The work performed by our organization and volunteers is helping maintain enjoyable backcountry trail access for generations to enjoy.
